A little bit about each type of wood...

Mexican Cocobolo - By far my most popular choice of wood. This beautiful wood comes from Mexico (obviously) and has quite a distinguished look to it. It is usually darker and bolder looking than cocobolo that comes from other parts of Central America.

Crosscut Cocobolo - This wood is cut across the grain of the board instead of with the grain. The results are stunning. This cocobolo comes from other parts of Central America.

Caragana - This wood is locally grown and used in shelter belts around the farms in North Dakota. It is more of a bush than a tree and generally does not grow to more than about 3" in diameter. The patterns in this wood are very unique and each piece can look completely different. If you are looking for something different, this is it!

Olivewood - The Olivewood I use comes from the Holy Land of Bethlehem and Jerusalem. The Olive tree is a slow growing tree and can live many hundreds of years. When is reaches the age of 200 the trunk disappears and shoots develop at the trunk and eventually grow into a new tree.

Cottonwood - Another locally grown wood that I get from a local sawmill. Generally cottonwood doesn't have a lot of character but the burls that they save for me have some awesome swirls and quilting to it.

Bocote - With its striking, zebra-like contrasts, and bold figuring, Bocote can be a very eye-catching wood. It generally comes from Mexico also or other Central American countries.

You may find some cheaper version of the same type of razors but I don't believe you will find the same quality of wood anywhere else. I spend a lot of time searching for the highest quality woods to give you the best value for your money.
